NEW EDITORIAL: MAYWEATHER x NELLY

There's drama between Nelly and boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. that started when Mayweather's ex-fiancée, Shantel Jackson, started spending time with Nelly. Reportedly, Jackson and Mayweather split over an extreme sensitive subject. A source told TMZ that the time Jackson and Nelly have spent together has made him feel "betrayed." He went on to say that the betrayal was amplified because Mayweather though he and Nelly were old friends. Apparently, an Instagram picture of Nelly with Jackson at a Bobcats/Heat game is what set Mayweather off, because he began attacking Jackson on social media. During Mayweather's social-media explosion, he explains why the two broke up and said that he had paid for her to get plastic surgery. In one post he said, "The real reason why me and Shantel Christine Jackson @missjackson broke up was because she got an abortion, and I'm totally against killing babies. She killed our twin babies. #ShantelJackson #FloydMayweather #TheMoneyTeam #TMT." The social media attacks on Jackson led to a couple of responses from Nelly. The Grammy winner responded with a note and a song. In the note, Nelly discounts their "friendship" by saying that two never exchanged numbers. He then reminded Mayweather that he flew in Nelly's ex to spend the weekend with him. Nelly ended the note with a simple, "good luck to him tho keep making history champ?" The song, on the other hand, can be heard below.

The song has been met with mixed reviews. While it's labeled as a diss, it doesn't really come across as one. The harshest lyrics are "I'm glad he lied to your face/ I'm glad she made those mistakes/ Because you wouldn't be here now, I wouldn't be here now, we wouldn't be here now/ Thanks to your ex/ Thanks to my ex," and "It's his bad that you found a new lover." This "feud" with Nelly would be a first for him that doesn't involve another musician. Matter of fact, he has a reputation of being incredibly friendly with those outside of the music world. He's mostly known for his pleasantries in the poker world, where he has spent a good bit of his time playing professionally. In fact, he's known for having friendships with many of the top poker pros, and Phil Hellmuth is the most interesting of them. In fact, the duo have a video of them singing "Number One" at the 2009 WSOP. If there was anyone that could feud with Nelly it would Helmuth, because he's known for blowing-up at the table. His most infamous blow-ups include him saying that Jim Pittman "can't even spell poker," and calling Cristian Dragmomir "the worst player in history," as noted by blogger Matthew Pitt. Both occurred after Helmuth lost a hand that he shouldn't have (based on the odds), so I'm sure if Nelly beat the odds and took Helmuth's money, we'd all have something else to talk about. But the two haven't played against each other professionally yet. One thing's for sure, it'll be interesting to see how the "feud" between Nelly and the Champ turns out, because it could turn into a serious feud in no time.

NEW MUSIC: BRKLYN FLYWLKR - "B**** I'm Extravagant"

Inspired by the late great James Dean and his movie East of Eden BRKLYN FLYWLKR drops his new single "B***h I'm Extravagant, drawing influence from the extravagance of the world around him. While also mirroring the movie's themes of acceptance, greatness and the ability to be his own worst enemy, his debut project East of Eden, is said to be a project for his fans.  BRKLYN FLYWLKR  is well known across the Texas A&M campus for his lyrical performance and ties with many members of the Aggie football squad, which has catapulted him to the forefront of rappers on campus.

"This project is really for the fans and for those around town and throughout Texas that have supported my music so far.  In a lot of way this project is like the James Dean movie because he goes against the grain, and he's racing cars and making all this illegal money and its basically him against his brother and I just think that the project is a reflection of the movie with the themes that you see. My sound is a different sound than you normally hear from Texas music because of my Brooklyn roots, but you can still hear the influence from both parts of the country. I started rapping in Houston, but early on growing up I was listening to more New York
music so my influences have grown and changed over time"

As this year's NFL draft approaches with less than two weeks away, the Brooklyn born and Houston bred rapper, will be watching closely to see where his fellow College Station resident Johnny Manziel ends up.  The two follow each other on Twitter as BRKLYN FLYWLKR also has ties with other members of the football team who are also his friends.

BRLKLYN FLYWLKR's project East of Eden will be released in June via Rowand Records and will be available on DatPiff for free download.
